Calling in the remembrance of the spark of divinity that resides in all that is. Hanuman is the monkey god, who lives in service and devotion of Sita and Ram, who as a naughty toddler was ordered to forget he is a descendant of the gods because he kept getting into trouble with his special powers. After confusing the sun for a mango, biting it, and causing darkness to descend upon Earth, he was punished, made to think he was just an ordinary monkey, in service and devotion to Sita and Ram. One day Sita has been kidnapped and they whole community is trying to figure out how to save her… looking at Hanuman… ‘don’t you remember who you are!” they ask, desperate for him to use the power he holds within. In an instant Hanuman has a moment of recognition and remembers his inherent power, wisdom, strength, divinity and opens to his full potential, leaping to cross the ocean to rescue the queen. As we call these names may we remember the bigger picture, the vastness that we are and are part of. And may we remind each other always when we forge. This beautiful melody is by Krishna Das.
