Goddess Prayer: A longer and more complex chant, and one of my all time favourites. This chant calls to various forms of the goddess and comes from a text called the Devi Mahatmayam. This is from the Argala Stotram that is comprised of 26 verses, here I share the first 3. The melody was taught to me by my teacher Stephanie Snyder.

Jayanti Mangala Kali Bhadrakali Kapalini

Durga Kshama Shiva Dhatri Svaha Svadha Namostute 

Salutations to Jayanti (who is ever-victorious), Mangala (who is the bestower of auspiciousness), Kali (who is beyond kala or time), Bhadrakali (who is the controller of life and death), Kapalini (who wears a garland of skulls).

Salutations to Durga (who is Durgati-Nashini), Shiva (who is ever-auspicious), Kshama (who is an embodiment of forbearance), Dhatri (who is the supporter of all beings), Swaha  and Swadha; Salutations to you.

Jaya Tvam Devi Chamunde Jaya Bhutartiharini

Jaya Sarvagate Devi Kalaratri Namostute

Victory to you, O Devi Chamunda, victory to you who are the remover of worldly afflictions and sorrows,

Victory to you O Devi, who are present in all beings; salutations to you, O Devi Kalaratri (a form of Devi Durga, literally means the dark night).

Madhu Kaitabh Vidravi Vidhatr Varade NamaαΈ₯

Rupam Dehi Jayam Dehi Yasho Dehi Dvisho Jahi

Salutations to Devi Durga who destroyed the demons madhu and kaitabha, thus granting the boon of protection to sri Brahma.

O Devi, please grant me (spiritual) beauty, please grant me (spiritual) victory, please grant me (spiritual) glory and please destroy my (inner) enemies.

Jai Jai Ma Jai Maataa Durga 

Victory to the great mother, Durga x 3
