Innate Knowing: A practice exploring the sensation of innate knowing. What does it mean to connect with a visceral intelligence that is simple and profound? How can attuning to this felt knowing invite contexts for presence and connection? A practice that begins slowly and plays with harnessing energy and then getting out of the way as we explore clarity of direction and freedom through movement. Builds into a strong flow and closes with supported backbends. Props: 1 block / rolled up towel
Clearing flow and stillness: A practice to find clarity and stillness. We begin slowly, shake things out, and then work into a powerful flow cultivating strength and steadiness in the legs to find a sense of clarity in our connection to ground and cultivate apana vayu (the energetic downward flow). Closes with a long rest and one of my favourite mantras.
Cultivate Compassion: A practice focusing on finding diagonals and fine tuning our contralateral movement, in order to support a return to a sense of centre. We start slowly finding diagonals in a variety of movement contexts and then move towards backbends across diagonals, with balancing postures and side body openers to find a sense space and length dotted throughout. We close with a mantra for compassion.
Wholeness comes from wholeness: A quiet and simple practice for your to attune and receive. Starts slowly with spiral movements on the ground and opens into a gentle flow exploring a sense of fullness in movement, and contemplating an ancient poem that is said to hold the power of allll of the teachings within it.
Clear away the dust: In this practice we explore movement through the side seam of our body, as well as spirals - from micro to macro structures. We start on the ground and unfold slowly into a varied flow that moves around the mat and cultivates space and strength. Through breath, movement and a shift in awareness we play with clearing away the dust to attune our perception and receive presence. Please begin this class lying down in a comfortable way.
Spiral Body: A practice exploring how spiral patterns repeat throughout our body on every scale, from the microscopic to the shape of our bones and the directions of movement through our tissues. With a particular focus on arms moving overhead for backbends, this practice starts with supine mobilisations of the upper back and builds into a strong flow with spacious side body work, balancing twists and options for wheel at the end. Props: Two brick type blocks if you have, can be done without.
Align and Flow: A practice exploring alignment from a variety of perspectives. What does it mean to find alignment that suits our own unique architecture? How might we be able to sense our way into alignment from within? What’s the difference between local and global alignment? Working with the principle of yielding contact, we move from the ground into a strong practice playing with twists, backbends, inversions, balance, and ‘whole body core’.
Drop into the Pulse: A class exploring the pulsation of heart beat, circulation and fluid movement through a varied sequence that moves around the whole body and introduces key philosophical themes around the relationship between the micro and macro via your felt experience. Starts with some sound, and progressively builds into a flowy, stretchy yummy movement practice before resting with your legs up the wall to close.
Sneak into a deep hip practice: We all have a unique ‘bony signature’ that gives us a particular amount of constraint and space. This class explores that range, with a particular focus on external rotation required to move into crossed legs, pigeon, figure of four and options to explore lotus (or not). Starts slow and sneaks into a varied and strong full body flow, with a hippy arm balance exploration and a wonderful, spacious seated sequence before closing with a long rest and a brief meditation. Woven throughout we play with an awareness practice exploring ‘spaces in between’; small windows that can offer a sense of the vast underlying ground of being that all experience arises from, is sustained within, and returns to.
Time to rest: Rest into the medicine of stillness as we move through postures that support relaxation into quiet, and gently revitalise from the inside out. We will work with awareness cultivation as a way to navigate the sometimes challenging mental aspect of stillness practices. We will use two blankets, a bolster (or a couple of pillows) and a chair.
Full Body Wiggle: move from the ground up in a fluid, soothing practice to tune up and tune in. Great for days where you want to move but also want to nap. A gift for your nervous system. *Archive: an older video with lower resolution video & high quality sound.
Gentle flow & restore: A slow and nourishing class for when you need something restorative with just a touch of movement sprinkled in. Tuning into the slowness of our bones, the earth, and the ground. Props: Bolster, blocks, blanket or similar items.
