Simple & Strong: A short and sweet flow where we use strength building movement especially in the lower limbs as a way of settling agitated energy and cultivating clarity. This practice is quite simple but strong, working with asymmetrical movement and building awareness of the bones throughout. Closes with a mini meditation.

End of Summer Rest

End of summer rest: Exhausted by summer? This is for you. 40 minutes to get horizontal and honour your tiredness with a gentle floor based practice as we attune to the quiet shift in season, and create space for the expansive energy of summer to settle. Props: One bolster (or firm pillow) and a blanket.

Limb Patterns and Perception

Limb Patterns and Perception

Limb patterns & Perception: This is one for the movement nerds! More of a mini training practice than a class, we explore movement patterns of the limbs in relationship to the spine. We work through the three limb patterns: homologous, homolateral and contralateral, exploring how each of these affects our visual field and perception, and play with differentiating each patterns so that we can eventually integrate and work with them as a whole.

Invisible spaces

Invisible spaces: A well rounded full body flow with attention to the circular, and attunement to invisible spaces. We begin with a somatic meditation, gradually move into a seated flow and then build into a stronger practice that builds strength in the legs, fluidity in the spine, and closes with a rest and my current favourite chant melody :)

Gravity Flow

Gravity Flow: Gravity, like water to fish is easy to miss until we challenge our habitual relationship to it. This practice explores gravity, our vestibular system, proprioception & balance. We work with stabilising and destabilising incrementally as an exploration of the question: where am I? We play with weight shift as a language, head support in free movement, and gently challenge our balance along the way as we build familiarity with gravity as a foundational ground of shared belonging.

Circumference and center

Circumference and center: In this practice we explore the relationship between the sternum, the ribs, and the thoracic spine. Woven with fluid movement exploration to embody the ribs and find clarity in their articulation, we move from the ground, through circular standing movement, into a flow that integrates asymmetrical balancing postures, twists and lunges before closing with a restorative posture to offer space through the thoracic region to close.

Front, back and middle: differentiate & integrate

Front, back and middle body - differentiate and integrate: In this practice we establish clarity around the front, back and middle body and how they integrate to give us a full sense of multi-dimensionality, depth and volume. It’s a calm, simple practice that starts gently and becomes progressively a little stronger with options to add spice where desired. We play with twists, balance, and backbends. A calm way to build precision, fluidity, awareness and strength.

Gentle Hip Specificity Flow

Gentle Hip Specificity Flow: This is a practice that stays close to the ground and explores specificity of movement through the hips, whilst exploring the relationship of the limbs to the centre of the body. Through multidimensional hip movement, gentle strength building and rest and release we tend to our sense of centre, and cultivate grounded spaciousness. Props: You will need a bolster or blocks and a strap for this practice, but can improvise if you don’t have them.

Muscle Power!

Muscle Power! : An exploration of musculature! How do muscles express themselves as ‘individual’ muscles as well as integrate through a broader network of a whole ‘musle body’? What does this mean for accessing power, vitality, strength AND our ability to release and rest? This practice helps us find whole body integration as we move, and builds from flowy floor sequences into a strong, invigorating practice, integrating philosophical contemplation and closing with a rest and one of my fave chants.

In the round

In the round: A practice that supports our discovery of circles within circles within circles as we breathe, move, and rest. We all begin in the round, and from that place weave ourselves into being through a process of differentiation and densification. In our yoga postures, how can we connect with the space around us to find ourselves once again in the round, with all the support that that might offer as we move and rest?
